Overview

Notifications are used for informing the user about important tasks they need to do for a file to continue its processing. For example, if a user is specified as an approver in some workflow, they will get a notification whenever a file is added to that workflow so they can approve the file and let it be further processed by the workflow.

Global (bell) Notifications

Notifications

  • Global (bell) notifications are presented by the bell symbol in the top right corner.
  • They are the union of all the notifications you have in each workflow
  • Each different action of each different workflow will produce a separate notification item (e.g. if you have a "needs approval" in the first step and "failed to upload to OneDrive" in the second step of the same workflow, you will get two notification items - "x files need approval" and "sign in to OneDrive")
  • If there are multiple notification types in the same action of the same workflow, we change the notification text to "x issues while..."
  • Each notification item leads to the To-do tab of the corresponding workflow with the filter set to the appropriate action
    • The only exceptions are notifications about invalid workflow configuration (e.g. missing approver/signer) - click on these notifications leads to the Edit Workflow Screen.

Push Notifications

Notifications

  • A push notification is a notification a user receives from their browser on their computer/device.
  • A push notification is sent every time a global (bell) notification appears in Willow
    • Note that the push notifications are still aggregated for job files to avoid notification overflow. For example, the approver will get a notification for the first file that comes to the Approve action; then, for any subsequent files that come to the action, there will be no notification if there's at least one file waiting in the Approve action.
  • A push notification is sent also when a job is completed. The notification leads to the Job View of that job (as if you clicked the completed job rectangle).
  • To turn push notifications on/off, please check Push Notifications.
